As we all know, nowadays technology is part of our lives, every day at every hour. After the computer, the mobile was the natural next step to enhance the human journey, as they are more flexible and easier to use. And so it happens with Salesforce. Having that in mind, let us embark on this new way of using Salesforce!

In this last post, we understood the importance of Dashboards to visualize all the data present on your Org, in an easy-on-the-eye, organized, and structured manner. Now, imagine having all that power in your hand with the Salesforce App for Mobile!

Salesforce1 – Is it possible to fit a Desktop in a Mobile?

The first product to be introduced by Salesforce on a mobile device was Salesforce1. But what advantages does this app present in place of a powerful and robust desktop version?

First of all, with Salesforce1 salespeople are on the road. Can you imagine doing all the business on the street, “door-to-door”, with a computer behind you? What if you could just clap your hand and let the magic happen? The great advantage of Salesforce for the mobile is that it allows a new way of doing business, boosting the commodity of the users on the road. Enhanced task, event, contact, lead and opportunity actions give users a very pleasant experience while conducting their businesses.

However, as the old saying goes, all that glitters is not gold. And Salesforce1 has its dark secrets.

Firstly, let’s talk about the Navigation Menu. Imagine that you have a lot of objects on your Org. Now imagine that you want to open one particular object on that navigation panel, and it starts with a “Z”. You have to scroll down all the way to the bottom of the objects to find your object. Not user-friendly at all!

Secondly, imagine now that you want to have different layouts for when a user is using the Lightning desktop version or the mobile app.  The layout cannot be differentiated between both, and in case it is a custom VisualForce page, it needs to be re-done to fit for mobile.

Lightning On Mobile Pilot – There is a New Sheriff in Town!

With this brand new mobile experience brought to you by Salesforce, likely, you will never Shot the sheriff again!

How is this any different from dull Salesforce1?

I am glad you asked! As mentioned before, on Salesforce1 you were not able to find a specific object or App on the Navigation menu. With this new app, you can do that! Like it happens on the Desktop version with the App launcher, you have the same functionality for the mobile app, and you can live search the app or object that you so desire to find. Navigation between the Lightning desktop and the mobile version are now one and the same.

To complement this, Tabs on any App on the Lightning desktop version and the mobile version have the same order, which is a huge advantage for the user, used to work on both platforms. Also, if you have an Account or any other Object record that you really love, you can pin it on the Lightning desktop version, and it will also appear on the navigation menu on the mobile version.

Concerning now Mobile Record Pages, imagine a world where you could build custom Lightning components to record pages in the Mobile. Wouldn’t that be a better world? Well, that is now possible! With this new pilot, and with the help of a filter on the App Builder, it is possible to have different layouts, in case the user is using a desktop or mobile.

The Ingenious Einstein

Another hot topic right now on Salesforce is the Einstein Analytics feature. It is also available right now on the Analytics dashboard for Mobile. So, just explore and analyze your data while enjoying the bright sun outside!

Still concerning the resourceful Einstein: with great power comes great responsibility. The longest the interaction using it, the more personalized and recommend results will the user get. Get intimate with Einstein right now!

Now, who wouldn’t like to share some thoughts through Einstein? With its assistance, you are now able to talk to your org. Updating records, log notes, create tasks and events, you name it. Or better even, you say it!

It is time to share!

Sharing is a beautiful thing. Adventures, food, feelings, you name it! But imagine now being able to share accounts, opportunities, contacts with the one next to you. The sharing option is now available in all the records on your org, and the user can share it on any in-app on his device, by just at a distance of some clicks! Beautiful stuff.

Bright Future

We will dedicate this section to some of the new functionalities that Salesforce is preparing now! Ready?

Image Recognition

This field is yet to be fully explored, but it has great potential. Using your mobile camera, the sky is the limit.

Picture yourself on a Summit or a rendez-vous of some kind. There, you meet several important people that may be key to conduct your business. Naturally, you all exchange business cards. With Salesforce you will be able to scan the cards, and get a Contact record out of them!

GPS on Salesforce

Imagine now that you are the owner of a large distribution company (good for you!). Naturally, you have a lot of vehicles moving all the time. With this precious tool, GPS on Salesforce, you will be able to monitor all of their routes, which accounts, opportunities or contacts they interacted with, as well as all the timings and frequency.

With all these factors, the team’s productivity will improve immensely, and you as the owner will be all cool beans with it!

Biometrics

Unlocking your device with your face or finger is super cool nowadays. And Salesforce is all about being cool, so why not implementing these changes as well? You can now unlock your community with your fingertip, or even your face. For the end-users on the road, this makes it easier for them to do all the activities.

We hope this article has been useful for you! Tell us about your experience, have you already tried using Einstein Voice Assistance in your phone? If so, how did you find it? Tell us all about it! We’re more than glad to hear about it and exchange some ideas with you! 🙂
