Summer’19 – Save the dates…
Summer ’19 release notes have been out for almost a month now! The release weekends have already started taken place this May 17th and will continue on June 7th, and June 14th! So, before we get started with all the new features and improvements, be sure you save these dates in your agenda!
Summer’19 Top Release Notes:
Summer’19 surely opens new horizons in your Salesforce in several new ways! In this article, we’ll analyze only the hottest improvements of these release notes. Check the topics we’ll cover in this article:
Lightning is the new black…
In Winter’20, Salesforce will turn on Lightning Experience for all orgs. So, you should really get used to it! In Summer’19, there were major improvements to smooth the transition to Lightning. Give them a look:
- When you switch from Salesforce Classic to Lightning, you will no longer land on the default landing page. Rather you will keep the context of your navigation in Salesforce Classic and land on the same page in Lightning Experience. Only if the page doesn’t exist in Lightning, then you’ll be redirected to a default landing page. This will prevent a new user to be lost on their initiation to Lightning.
- Related Lists keep evolving in Lightning and are getting closer to how list views work. You can now better find what you are looking for, by using quick filters on related lists. Feature only available for Lightning Experience. No more scrolling down and waiting for refreshes to get the information you need.
- Speaking of List Views, a big improvement is coming (still in Beta), you will be able to add more than 10 columns to a List View, allow you to sort, resize columns and apply also the lightning best seller “wrap text” functionality.
- Summer’19 also come to introduce Lightning Scheduler, for you to schedule inbound appointments, event management, action plans, and so on. Lightning Scheduler is the self-service interface embedded in a website or via Communities, and it partners with Salesforce Surveys (something we’ll talk about in a second)!
- We are looking very closely at the Salesforce Surveys functionality. Even though Salesforce itself uses different tools for their surveys today (not drinking their own champagne yet), they are at a constant pace building up their survey functionality on every release, for the past 3-4 releases. The big news this release is that this paid feature is now being made available for free for the first 300 surveys so everyone can use them without a license (if you want more than 300 you need to pay for an add-on). On top of this new approach to sell it, they did several improvements on UI and mobility. For all the survey app exchange tools out there, you better be ready for the competition…
The essential of Salesforce Essentials:
- Dialer is stronger than ever, as now you can consolidate your company’s phone calls to one phone number with Dialer. Incoming call have now better odds of connecting to someone on your team. Also, thanks to Contact Request you can now rapidly get back to your customers. With this tool, requests are tracked, so that anyone on your team can take care of them when they find the time to do it.
- Summer’19 allowed for customers to have instant conversations with chat and messaging. You may now embed a web chat into your website, with the option to let costumers log a case when your team is not available. Facebook Messenger for Essentials connects your business’s Facebook page to Salesforce, and your team never has to leave Salesforce! Chats and messages are delivered to team members alongside their work in Salesforce. They can handle cases, chats, messages, etc. all within Salesforce!
Einstein – Growing smarter day by day:
- Summer’19 enables you to use Einstein Behavior Scoring as part of your rule criteria in Process Builder and Workflows. This will spare your precious time from administrative tasks, like assigning leads and posting to Chatter, as soon as your prospect shows the right buying signals.
- Summer’19 launch a hot topic on the field of Sales Cloud Einstein: global predictive models! These models look for aggregate anonymous trends across Salesforce customers. So the first step for building these is to gather data from multiple orgs. Are you ready?
- You can finally customize bot actions with profiles. Give your bots access to features like Field Service Lightning by assigning them custom profiles, and expand their capabilities! Then, each bot will have a Bot user, which defines what a bot can do based on licenses, permissions, and objects. Create custom profiles to broaden your bot’s behavior! (Power up this new feature by applying it to Service!)
- Einstein, as any other AI tool, is fueled by data. Yet, if you don’t have tones of data, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to use artificial intelligence to boost your business. Descriptive insights only require a minimum of 50 rows of data. And, Predictive insights require a minimum of 400 rows of data. Just select the dataset during story setup. If it contains fewer than 400 rows, Einstein Discovery generates insights for descriptive insights. It just won’t generate a model for predictions and improvements.
- Since we’ve talked about Discovery Predictions, let us tell you that you can now embed Einstein Discovery Predictions anywhere! You may now use Predictions Service Scoring API to embed your predictions into any website or application. Via embedding, you may score records located inside or outside of Salesforce.
- Are you tired of only finding at the last minute you don’t have enough records in your dataset and the prediction’s quality is actually quite low? With Summer’19, catch errors before they happen thanks to Data Checker, tool you can and may embed in Einstein Prediction Builder!
- Bring your filters to the next level! Now you can boost your filters with Custom Logic in Einstein Prediction Builder, making your filter conditions and data predictions even more precise!
What’s new in Sales?
- You can now customize product schedules, manage sales quotas without Data Loader or the API. Also, now users can see all their territory forecasts on one page!
- In order to facilitate pricing, your sales team can now provide guidance based on historical deals and pricing trends. They can also amend and renew large contracts with a lower risk of timeouts. And, can also credit multiple invoice lines at once!
What’s up with Service?
- Summer’19 came to improve Field Service. It allows for deep linking to streamline navigation to Field Service Lightning mobile app screens. Also, you may now address even the biggest schedule challenges with Enhanced Optimization. Improvements to the Gantt have allowed for new views and scheduling options, a pop-out map, and a real-time progress indicator.
- Since the ultimate goal of any business is always to keep agents efficient, Summer’19 came to enable case merging into one master record. Now, you can also create powerful macros which include conditional expressions, all in Lightning!
Analyzing the trends in Analytics…
- With Summer’19, open your Salesforce to new ways of analyzing data! Row-level formulas (beta) bring to every record in a report the evaluative power of formulas. Also, now you can search for specific data in a report, and make it stand out with conditional formatting.
- Once again, Einstein is revolutionizing the release notes. Now, you can increase your app’s IQ with Einstein Discovery predictive capability built into app templates. In fact, you can embed Discovery predictions anywhere!
This Summer’19, Keep up with myTrailhead!
- myTrailhead is another hot topic of Summer’19! With it, you can offer users a completely fun, interactive, and gamified learning experience, similar to what you find in Trailhead. The icing on the cake? All the content displayed in myTrailhead is created by and for your company. Ultimately, you can even brand myTrailhead with your company logo, banner image, and color!
Summer’19 developing Salesforce’s Development!
- AI really is the next big thing, isn’t it? So, if you are not an expert on data or machine-learning, but you still want to integrate AI into your apps, you have nothing to be worried about. Use the Einstein platform Services APIs to power your apps with image recognition and natural language processing. Einstein Vision APIs will also boost your pre-trained classifiers or train custom classifiers, solving tones of image-recognition use cases. With Einstein Language APIs you can better analyze text while also inferring the intent and sentiment behind the text. All in all, this means smarter apps!
- Make your Apex even securer with the new feature for field-level data protection. You may now leverage the power of platform cache with scratch orgs and use cached data to speed up your Visualforce pages.
- In Summer’19, Salesforce CLI was not left behind, it has been improved to make available more features and commands supporting your org development and package models. Use CLI to create environments for development and testing, synchronize source code, run tests, and control your application.
- Now, you can specify when the publishing of a platform event occurs in a transaction. Also, you can control the event trigger batch size, and monitor the publishing of event messages by subscribing to a channel for asynchronous error notifications! Just take full control and enjoy the Lightning web component programming model with the lightning/empApi module.
